"Start Your Story" is an online fiction course designed for emerging writers who have dipped their toe into the world of fiction writing and want to hone their craft.  You will learn how to create believable characters, craft compelling plots, understand structure, decide on point of view, and most importantly develop your unique voice. With practical exercises, expert feedback, and a supportive community of fellow writers, "Start Your Story" equips you with the skills and confidence to bring your stories to life. 

With a blend of weekly lessons, writing exercises, and individual attention, you will gain the skills, confidence, and momentum to transform your idea into a compelling narrative. It is led by Irish Times bestselling historical fiction author Sheila Forsey.  With a maximum of eight participants, you will receive personalised guidance, creative writing expertise, and one-on-one attention throughout your writing journey. Sheila is an accomplished novelist, a playwright, an experienced creative writing instructor, a heritage expert with the Heritage Council, and holds qualifications from Maynooth University and Trinity College Dublin. This course offers the perfect blend of inspiration, professional insight, and individualised support.

Booking Conditions

 

Courses require a minimum of five participants to run. Please note that the course description is intended as a guide. Sheila reserves the right to deviate somewhat from the description in order to best accommodate the needs of the participants and the dynamic of the group.

Please be advised that all participants must be over 18 to attend this course.

Cancellation Policy

​

Should a participant need to cancel 3 weeks or more prior to a course or event, they will receive a full refund.

​

Should a participant need to cancel between 3 weeks to 1 week prior to the start of a course or event, they will receive a 50% refund.

​

Cancellation or transfer requests made 1 week prior or less to a course or event will not receive a refund, but may transfer to another course in the future. 

​

On the day the course begins or beyond this point, Sheila cannot provide refunds, credit or transfers, nor can Sheila provide partial refunds if participants have missed classes for any reason.

Places cannot be confirmed on a course until  full payment is received.
